Miracle Workers

1 Kings 9:1–3 (KJV)

“1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.

2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD'S house.

3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.”

The Question of Miracles

The miraculous is a controversial topic in the world today among believers and non-believers. People randomly say that miracles are now rare — that the miracles of the Old Testament are not manifesting in this age. Why? Ironically, Christians who work miracles are accused of fraud and deception.

Why don’t we see fire falling from the sky? Why does manna not fall from heaven?

The Lord’s Inheritance

Psalm 2:7–8 (KJV)

“[7] I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

[8] Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.”

Psalm 18:43–45 (KJV)

“[43] Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

[44] As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.

[45] The strangers shall fade away and be afraid out of their close places.”

The answer is this: In the days of the Israelites, it was Jehovah who led the people. The Angel of the Lord’s presence led them, and He needed to give them signs to let them know He was with them.

Now, the Father of all spirits, through the Spirit of Truth, willed the earth to the Prince of Peace for an inheritance. He gave the earth to our Lord Jesus.

The Reign of Christ

Philippians 2:9–11 (KJV)

“[9] Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

[10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

[11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

So now, the Lord Jesus rules. The government is upon His shoulders. He needs no adviser because He is the wisdom of God.

Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)

“[6] For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

He rules over the Church. We are the peculiar people called of God to partake in His glorious inheritance.

Among many things, the Lord Jesus is a miracle worker. As He is, so are we in this world.

Our Shared Inheritance

Romans 8:17 (KJV)

“…we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”

As the Head, He (Christ) has the preeminence. He divides the lots. And what portion did He give us?

Luke 10:19 (KJV)

19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Mark 16:17–18 (BSB)

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well.”

Understanding Miracles

What is a miracle? A miracle is a physically unexplainable occurrence, supernaturally imposed. It is an interruption of a natural precedent by an unusually phenomenal exploit.

Acts 28:3–6 (BSB)

“3 As Paul gathered an armful of sticks and was laying them on the fire, a poisonous snake, driven out by the heat, bit him on the hand.

4 The people of the island saw it hanging from his hand and said to each other, ‘A murderer, no doubt! Though he escaped the sea, justice will not permit him to live.’

5 But Paul shook off the snake into the fire and was unharmed.

6 The people waited for him to swell up or suddenly drop dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw that he wasn’t harmed, they changed their minds and decided he was a god.”

The Lord Jesus doesn’t need to rain down fire. We can — and that’s why it’s imperative we pray.

The Power of Prayer

James 5:16 (AMP)

“[16] Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].”

The Lord told the apostles to tarry and wait for power. The Spirit we were given also gave us a gift — the gift of speaking in tongues. The power of God gave us power by instruction: that we should pray without ceasing, and that we should be righteous in order for our prayers to be effective.

It is from the availed power that you work miracles. The Lord Jesus would always pray early in the morning. Whenever He felt power and virtue leave, He would go and renew His strength. And angels would perpetually minister unto Him. He is the miracle worker, and we are His disciples.

Say it: “I am a miracle worker.”

As He is... (You complete it).
