John 6:53–55, 57–58 (KJV)
“[53] Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. [54] Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. [55] For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
[57] As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. [58] This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.”
A ritual is a spiritual, ceremonial, sacrilegious act. It comes with precision and instructions. Rituals are used to invoke entities and to control circumstances. Rituals are used to dismiss natural laws and facilitate unplanned occurrences.
Most rituals include blood and sacrifice; others may be obligatory, continual rites. For us Christians, we have things like the burning of incense, church service, fellowship, prayer, worship, enchantments of praise, abstinence, fasting, and... the Holy Communion.
Luke 22:17–20 (KJV)
“[17] And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: [18] For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. [19] And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. [20] Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.”
The Lord said to divide the cup among themselves. In order to discover the significance of the Holy Communion, we must understand the Feast of the Passover.
This dates back to the slavery of the Israelites in early Egypt. Pharaoh refused to hearken to the word of the Lord El Shaddai (Strong and Mighty in battle). We are not new to the story.
There was a ritual — a slaughter of a sacrificial animal — and the blood was put on the doorposts of the Israelites and all affiliated with them. Any Egyptian who had also put the blood on his or her doorpost escaped the pestilence of the angel of death.
Afterward, the Lord instructed them to add it to their memorials and to celebrate the “Feast of Passovers.”
Similarly, the Lord Jesus introduced the Communion on the day of the Feast of Passovers. He died a few days later. It was symbolic.
He didn’t say to take it alone — it’s to be done in the midst of other brethren. A feast doesn’t host one man, and communion takes more than one man.
The Potency of the Communion
The unleavened bread is bread without yeast. A bread without yeast cannot rise, yeast symbolizing sin.
The Bread of Life without yeast is Jesus Christ’s body without sin.
Ritualism is symbolism — you attach items and objects to living things, and you project power.
So, the symbolism of the Holy Communion enables us to eat the flesh and drink the blood of our Passover Lamb, such that death has no power over us. Death only? Sicknesses, peril. That only? No. All there is, the power in the blood becomes fused with us.
Life is in the cell of the blood. In order for blood to lose its potency, the blood has to die. But Jesus is alive! We eat living flesh and drink living blood! Hence, we are eating and drinking the life and power of the Lamb.
Why do witches and wizards drink blood? For power. Why do ritualists request the organ parts of dead people? For power. If they had a choice, they’d have the parts of a living vessel. But we have the advantage, our Vessel is alive, and His power is limitless.
John 3:11–14 (KJV)
“[11] Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. [12] If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? [13] And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. [14] And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up.”
As we behold steadfastly the Word of God (the Son of God), we receive power, grace, and efficiency. It’s a ritual. We are charged.
The power of the Holy Communion, taken with faith in fellowship with the brethren, must not be overlooked.
Let us obey and honor the commandment of our Chief Priest.
