The Ritual of the Church

Matthew 16:15–18 (BSB)

> 15. “But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?”

16. Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

17. Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in heaven.

18. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.

19. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

The Lord Jesus has given power and authority to bind and to loose. This is one of the essences of rituals: to influence, to bind, to control, to redirect, and to channel.

This is the purpose of church services. It’s a ritual. To commune and to coordinate, to set agendas, to agree, to set goals, to bind and to loose.

Whenever the apostles and disciples of the early church came together, there was an agenda. They either came together to pray or to minister to one another. Hence, they all benefited from the corporate anointing.

There is an order. The energy from the head messenger of the church would flow to the others. The leader (maybe an apostle, a pastor, whoever the church looks up to) is in charge of feeding the flock. Spiritually, he’s the residential address of his members. If a demon wants to attack a member, it cannot penetrate the member who is rooted in the pastor.

How unfortunate it is if that head isn’t in Christ. He has to constantly be in union with the Lord Jesus in prayer, and in fellowship.

If the pastor is cunning, fraudulent, and deceptive, all the members would act similarly after listening to him or her in church services. It’s the communion,?he is feeding them. It’s the ritual of the church ceremony.

Hence, the pastor is either corrupting the church or replenishing the church. That is why there are fake pastors who preach the Word of God but are bringing damnation to their hearers. They spread corruption. They channel evil spirits, and it takes a believer full of the Holy Spirit to discern such.

Matthew 7:15–18 (AMP)

> [15] “Beware of the false prophets [teachers], who come to you dressed as sheep [appearing gentle and innocent], but inwardly are ravenous wolves. [Ezek. 22:27]

[16] By their fruit you will recognize them [that is, by their contrived doctrine and self-focus]. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? [Luke 6:43–44]

[17] Even so, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the unhealthy tree bears bad fruit.

[18] A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.”

False teachers do not lead you to Christ. They use Christ to lead you to themselves and to seductive doctrines. It is from their fruits you discern them, and from the energy they spread to the congregation; fraud, lust, fear, doubt, uncertainty.

The Purpose of the Church

The purpose of church service is for edification, exhortation, communion, and fellowship: for knowledge, impartation, building up of faith, charity, hope, and strength. It’s for the increase of the body of Christ, the expansion of the Kingdom of God.

The purpose of the church is to rule, to dominate, and to foster the spirit of unity.

It is to open more vessels for divinity to permeate. It’s to open the spirits of believers for pruning.

The Apostles initially fellowshipped everyday. It became a weekly activity along the line.

If the Lord separates you unto Himself, that’s different. Otherwise, every believer ought to partake in church services.

And every prophet, pastor, and minister (worship ministers inclusive) ought to be careful not to feed the Lord’s sheep with poison.

Becoming Worthy Vessels

Let us linger, hold fast to what we have. Let us serve diligently. Grace is energy. Let us be worthy vessels, rid of all unrighteousness. Let us be fountains of living water and springs of righteousness, so that we nurture the Lord’s sheep with good water and not bad water.

That iniquity you think you are hiding, it’s flowing to your members. So, for their sakes... stop. Because they’ll all start acting like you. It’s a ritual process.

In church services, we obtain power — the move of the Holy Spirit, the distribution of gifts and abilities. Sometimes the wisdom flows from the pastor to the hearers — the spirit of knowledge, the spirit of might, the spirit of excellence.

When the members hear the words, he may not even talk about it, but the graces are communicated to the spirits of the listeners.

Hallelujah.

A Prayer For You

May the Spirit Of God give you the wisdom to deal wisely with men: to lead and to commune. May he give you the grace to establish righteousness in the Church and to withstand persecution, temptations, trials and tribulations. May you have the ability to disregard offenses, and to continually walk in love amongst the brethren, Amen.
