🕊️ Seeing beyond the desert

---

Genesis 13:14–18 (AMP)

> “[14] The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had left him, ‘Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are standing—northward and southward and eastward and westward—

[15] for all the land which you see I will give to you and to your descendants forever. [Acts 7:5]

[16] I will make your descendants [as numerous] as the dust of the earth, so that if a man could count the [grains of] dust of the earth, then your descendants could also be counted. [Gen 28:14]

[17] Arise, walk (make a thorough reconnaissance) around in the land, through its length and its width, for I will give it to you.’

[18] Then Abram broke camp and moved his tent, and came and settled by the [grove of the great] terebinths (oak trees) of Mamre [the Amorite], which are in Hebron, and there he built an altar to [honor] the Lord.”

There’s a spirit of patience that is of God.

---

What Is Patience?

Patience is perseverance, but not without hope.

Hope is an expectation of a soon-coming reality that has every tendency not to suffice.

Hope is trust in the face of desolation.

Patience is the ability to not act in response to perception and outward stimuli.

---

Isaiah 40:28–31 (KJV)

> “[28] Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?

There is no searching of his understanding.

[29] He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

[30] Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall;

[31] but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles;

they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

---

What Does It Mean to Wait on Someone?

To be patient, expectant, and submissive.

---

Psalm 123:2 (KJV)

> “[2] Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters,

and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress;

so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.”

---

It is God who gives the ability to wait on Him.

Not everyone has the capacity to withstand the presence of God for hours or days.

Not everyone can embark on a three-day fast.

Not everyone can pray...

It is the Spirit of Patience that gives one the ability to stand before God and wait on Him.

It is the Spirit of Patience that enables fasting and prayer in believers.

---

I once went on a seven-day dry fast. I’ve tried to replicate it, and I can’t.

When the Lord instructed me to, I did it without searching for water.

I finished without ulcer, and when I tried to do it again without the Lord instructing me to, I couldn’t.

My heart started palpitating on the fourth day, and I stopped immediately.

---

The Spirit of Patience gives the ability to wait, to hold onto hope, to endure and look at God’s promises—

to not fall or lose hope.

The Spirit gives the ability to trust in God and God’s system,

the ability to humble oneself and wait for God’s exaltation in due time.

The Spirit enables one to subject oneself to pain and humiliation for a time.

---

Hebrews 12:1–3 (KJV)

> “[1] Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses,

let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us,

and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

[2] looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith;

who, for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame,

and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

[3] For consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself,

lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

---

God breaks you before He makes you.

It is the Spirit of Patience that enables you to bear the process.

The light afflictions work for you a greater weight of glory.

Say to yourself, “I have the Spirit of Patience.”

---

Examples from Scripture

What are the promises that God has made to you?

When the promise of Isaac came to Abraham, he received it with gladness.

He waited out the first year, second year, third year. Several years went by.

Sarah did not have the Spirit of Patience, so she handed over her handmaid to help her conceive.

After getting what she wanted, she could not tolerate the child and his mother,

so she was cruel toward them. She lacked patience.

Even when Abraham took Isaac to the mountain, she died before his return because of anxiety.

Because King Saul lacked the Spirit of Patience, he made a sacrifice for Israel on behalf of the Prophet Samuel.

David, on the other hand, patiently waited after he was anointed as king several years before he received the promise.

He never stirred a coup to massacre King Saul, neither did he consider him his rival.

The Spirit of Patience

Patience is a virtue; it is of the Spirit.

So, what if God promised you a wife? A son? A role or parliament seat?

Patience.

Through faith and patience, our elders received the promises of God.

God is able to do exceedingly more than you can ever think or imagine.

The Bible says, “All things are yours!” You don’t have to ask.

The Spirit of God is the Spirit of Patience—it’s just a dimension of His expression unknown to many.

The Bible tells us about the Spirit of Truth, but that isn’t included among the seven Spirits of God mentioned by the Prophet Isaiah.

So you don’t say, “Lord, give me the Spirit of Patience.”

You say, “In the name of Jesus, I have the Spirit of Patience. I function with the Spirit of Patience.”

You may have a thousand shoes, but it’s one you wear on a given occasion.

So this Spirit can find expression in you for the right occasions.

Blessed be God forevermore.

A Prayer for You

May God’s Spirit cause you to have a patient spirit—

to endure and to overcome every circumstance( trial, tribulation, persecution and temptation) in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Shalom, Shalom.
