Matthew 24:9-13 – A Warning of Tribulation
"Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved."
The Lord informs us that there will be massive persecution of the Church. He says it will be because of Him that many will be hated, and some will even die! He also explains that this tribulation will cause many to be offended.
"God, why me!?"
"God, where are You!?"
"God, are You not seeing what they are doing to me?"
The Great Fall Away
Jesus warns that the tribulation will be so intense that many will become selfish. In their desperation, they will betray one another, choosing themselves and selling out their neighbors just to survive.
He says many will even hate themselves—a reciprocal hatred that spreads like a shadow over the faithful.
This is the great fall away.
