The third means of inviting the presence of Jesus is through evangelism.
Amos 3:3 (ASV)
"Shall two walk together, except they have agreed?"
"If you believe Me not, believe the works."
Mark 9:38-41 (ESV)
"38 John said to Him, 'Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.' 39 But Jesus said, 'Do not stop him, for no one who does a mighty work in My name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me. 40 For the one who is not against us is for us. 41 For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward.'"
Even if you have little knowledge of the Lord Jesus, as long as you have a will and desire to actively indulge yourself in His work, He will manifest Himself to you. Anyone who is not for Him is against Him. What are the works of the Lord?
1. To give life — John 10:10 (KJV)
2. To give light — John 3:21 (KJV)
3. To destroy the works of the devil — John 10:10 (KJV)
So now the Lord Jesus is gone, and the same mission He had on earth, He has given us. What are our works? To give life (the good news, the message of salvation and eternal life), to give light (understanding of the message, making all things manifest, because light makes all things manifest), and to destroy the works of the devil (bind His agents, neutralize His territorial hold on places and people, free people from the yoke of fear and bondage).
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Anyone who does the works in glorification of the Lord invites Jesus Himself. What about the false preachers and prophets? If you are one who operates in the Spirit of discernment, you are able to distinguish the works of falsehood from the works of true disciples:
1. There is dryness; the ministry of the Holy Spirit is not present. There is no glory, no reverence, no sobriety. They may demonstrate power, but the Apostle John tells us to try every spirit and find out its origin. 1 John 4:1-5
2. They don’t transform lives. As the members were in 1995, so they are. There’s no spiritual growth in their lives. They can’t boast of where they stand with the Lord. They don’t have insight into God’s kingdom.
