Psalms 141:2 (AMP)
> “Let my prayer be counted as incense before You;
The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering.
[1 Tim. 2:8; Rev. 8:3–4]”
We have spiritual incense and physical incense. Our prayers, intercession, and worship rise before God as the smell of a sweet savor. Thanksgiving is an offering. Praise is an incense.
When I was a little girl, I used to watch my father burn incense. He used to travel to Jerusalem for pilgrimage. He’d come back with sand from the Dead Sea, salt, mustard seed, olive oil, and incense.
He used to burn incense in the house. Even while writing right now, I remember the smell. I did notice the change and shift in the atmosphere whenever he did that. He’d take it into all the rooms.
It attracts angels; the same way music can attract spirits. It’s an atmosphere they thrive in. We have the name of Jesus to cast out devils. In past centuries, incense chased unclean spirits.
There are still denominational doctrines that support the use of incense. While some dismiss this practice, others hold dearly to it. Let every man work according to his faith. There are many roads to the cross, but there’s only one way to the Father, which is Jesus Christ the Son.
Man is a spirit, and we should learn to create atmospheres to stir up our spirits. I’m not in any way encouraging anyone to use incense. We stir up our spirits with prayer and worship... but there’s the place of meditation and stillness, mindfulness and devotion.
The angels who needed the burning of incense to operate haven’t changed. Sometimes, in order to minister to an individual, they may nudge him or her to burn incense. That’s the atmosphere they thrive in.
The bullocks of our lips and the incense of praise are what God truly requires of us.
He doesn’t glory in burnt offerings anymore. We are the living sacrifices. We serve God in His way.
You can bless God in silence. You don’t have to be loud about it. The condition of your heart — reverence and adoration — can be a sweet smell unto God.
Hallelujah.

John 4:23–24 (BSB)
> “But a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him.
God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”
