Chapter I: Service To God

 Romans 12:1 (KJV)

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."

Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, for he abides in you, carrying the divine, light-giving, glorious presence of the supreme God. He would no longer live in the tabernacle of tents and bricks, but now abides in you.

You are beseeched and reckoned upon to keep your body holy. Your body is his temple. You are the priest of that temple.

1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)

"What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you… and ye are not your own?"

The work of a priest is to maintain and care for God's temple, offering sacrifices of worship and atonement of sin. Sometimes I get so conscious of this that it dawns on me that I must care for my body, which is God's temple, regularly. My mouth cannot smell. I must exercise to keep God's temple in good shape. I should eat healthy and have a good appearance, because this body is not my own. I should handle it with care and respect. I can't go to a nightclub, because Christ lives in me, and I can't take him there. I can't fornicate, because it is his temple. I'm revealing his glory and uniting with another, which may not be his.

I know for certain I carry God's manifesting presence, so I can't take it just anywhere. I can't make some vain, vulgar utterances, because this mouth is not my own, and even if it were, my will is his will. We are one. My thoughts: his thoughts are my thoughts. I can't just put anything on my body. It's his temple, and I would have it the way he wants. He’s my Lord. He’s my Master. And I'm yielded to his will. So shall you be.

I ought to keep his temple holy and presentable for his use, in all faithfulness, like a wife in sacrilege to her loving husband.
