The Plot Against Jesus
Matthew 26:1–4 ESV
"[1] When Jesus had finished all these sayings, He said to His disciples,
[2] “You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”
[3] Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,
[4] and plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill Him."
The Lord Reveals What Lies Ahead
The Lord will reveal some challenges ahead of time, not to dismiss you from service, but to prepare you. The Lord knew He would die in less than a week. He knew how He was going to die, and He prayed to die in accordance with God's will.
Acts 21:10–14 KJV
[10] And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judæa a certain prophet, named Agabus.
[11] And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, “Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.”
[12] And when we heard these things, both we and they of that place besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
[13] Then Paul answered, “What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? For I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
[14] And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, “The will of the Lord be done.”
Who Is a Martyr?
A martyr is a carrier of the gospel who has been persuaded to fight until death. Therefore, there is no gravity of tribulation that can make him shrink back. Because he has already burned his bridges, and he is dead in Christ—dead to everything and everyone.
