Chapter Six- Sobriety and Meditation

The Call to Obedience and Waiting on God

In fulfilling destiny, once you have obeyed and set out, you are on a journey—and on this path, you will be faced with options. In the call of a man, he often sees the beginning, sometimes the end, but rarely the whole picture. God does not always reveal everything at once. There are seasons when He is silent. He does not speak, He does not respond, yet His eyes are steadily upon you, unwavering and watchful.

Exodus 33:13–15 (AMP)

“Now therefore, I pray you, if I have found favor in your sight, show me now your way, that I may know you [progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with you, perceiving clearly] and that I may find favor in your sight. And (Lord, do) consider that this nation is your people. And the Lord said, ‘My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.’ Then Moses said to the Lord, ‘If Your presence does not go with us, do not carry us up from here.’”

The Lord, grieved by Israel’s stubbornness, called them a stiff-necked people. He told Moses He would not go with them lest He consume them in His wrath. The Lord (liberator of Israel) reckoned on Moses to lead the people, stating he (God) would not go with them else he would slay them due to their stubbornness. Instead, He promised to send an angel to guard them. This left Moses in a place of dilemma and deep intercession. Entering the tabernacle, Moses sought God’s mercy and favor. Having obtained it for himself and the nation, he pressed further: he sought the glory of God.
