Chapter V (Pg2)

Obey the laws of your estate, city, and country, no matter how small. Even something as simple as obeying traffic lights promotes order. Have integrity. Even if only a few benefit from your honesty, it is still for the greater good. Do not cheat your neighbors, exploit your customers, or compromise your values. Instead, uphold honesty, dependability, accountability, respect, fairness, empathy, and generosity.

When I attended JAMB lessons in Warri, Delta State, I met a young man named Jonathan. He was the first person I saw in the hall—always punctual, often arriving before the cleaners. I was punctual too, eager to make new friends after relocating. We often shared snacks, and I noticed how meticulously he disposed of his food packs. He never formally taught me, yet he impacted me. I learned not to litter—a habit that has stayed with me until this day. Thank you, Jonathan.

How about we all develop this same discipline? Don’t litter your churches, workplaces, schools, or streets. In restaurants, don’t leave a mess. Acts of service to your nation can be as simple as providing public trash bins in messy areas, or setting up temporary restrooms for travelers. Participate in community sanitation days. Take up leadership roles in your estate, local government, or community. Remember, David served in Saul’s palace. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego contributed to governance—even as captives! A little contribution can count. As a great man once said: “If all of us have done little; we have all done much.”
