What is the ministry of Jesus Christ?
He has a threefold ministry, to be more direct. From this threefold ministry springs other ministries because He is all-encompassing. They are:
The Priestly ministry.
The Prophetic ministry.
The Kingly ministry.
The Priestly ministry:
John 10:10 (KJV)
“...I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
John 17 (ESV)
“[1] When Jesus had spoken these words, He lifted up His eyes to heaven and said, ‘Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify You,
[2] since You have given Him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom You have given Him.
[3] And this is eternal life, that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.’”
The work of a priest is to mediate man and God, to reveal divinity to humanity, and become a medium of interaction, communication, and relation.
A priest offers sacrifices on behalf of the appeasers.
A priest stays holy and undefiled.
A priest is separated and designated for a divine, special purpose.
A priest reconciles and redeems the offender with his deity.
Did Jesus do all of these? Yes. On earth and in heaven, He was and remains our Chief High Priest. It was through His Priestly ministry He healed the sick. The work of a priest is to cleanse; He cleansed the lepers, opened blind eyes. So His healing ministry was cordial to His Priestly ministry.
