Prologue

“Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.” — John 15:15

SERVICE

Service is a word used in many contexts and with various references. The term “service” is derived from the Latin word servus, meaning “slave,” which later evolved into the Old French servise and the Latin servitium, and is now recognized in English as service.

Service can be defined as the act of helping or doing work for someone. It refers to work performed by one person or group for the benefit of another.

To serve means to render assistance, maintenance, help, or favor. It is synonymous with words such as assistance, help, favor, and maintenance.

One who serves can be described as a servant, employee, waiter or waitress, helper, assistant, or burden bearer.

Sometimes service may come with a clear or specific reward; at other times, it brings no visible reward, or its benefits are intangible. Have you, in any way, served—whether strangers, family, loved ones, or God Himself?

GOD'S WILL TOWARDS SERVICE

Matthew 23:11 says: “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.”

Dear brother or sister, do you know that the Kingdom of God on earth is built upon service and your relevance in it? Do you know that we are in the time of harvest—and that the harvest is plentiful? The Lord requires as many laborers as can be deployed into the field.

These laborers must work earnestly, regardless of time or season—in cold or heat, by night or by day; in moments of pleasure or difficulty; in the face of affliction and adversity; even when confronted by snares and enemies.
