John 14:12-14 NKJV
[12] “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do
he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My
Father. [13] And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father
may be glorified in the Son. [14] If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”
Many see the Lord as a fearful God of damnation—a God who craves control
and dictatorship. But no.
He is loving, gentle, and kind.
All He wants is to make you glorious.
He wants to protect you and lead you into the best version of yourself.
He is tenderhearted and continually seeks the brokenhearted, the
downtrodden, and the least favored.
That is why He always stands up for the poor and the oppressed.
He loves to heal, restore, and repair. He is the God of endless mercy. He is the
God Of Benevolence.
God wants you to ask Him for things. He wants you to benefit from His
Regime. He wants you to be the favored of Him. He is generous and wants
you to be a major beneficiary of His infinite abilities.
He is that leader who recognizes potential and pulls the potent into their
rightful place. He is that leader who shows people who they truly are and
how far they can go.
So the Lord Jesus is not after your usefulness; He primarily wants to be useful
to you. That is why He says, “Use My name. Ask for anything, and I will
make sure it is done.”
He deeply desires to reveal His love, power, and goodness toward you.
He has given you everything in life that you require to reign, rule, and
conquer, and He wants you to know it.
Then He wants you to ask for more, because nothing is impossible for Him.
Think about it, his resources are infinite, he can't heal himself, so he uses his
infinity on you: he heals you.
He can't use his benevolence on himself, so he uses it on you by blessing you.
He derives pleasure from blessing you... And in return you praise Him for it.
He's not necessarily excited that you are praising Him, He's excited that
He makes you happy... And, the proof of your happiness is your thanksgiving.
God's pleasure comes from pleasing you. The more He pleases you, and you
are happy, He doubles it, and triples it.
God’s pleasure comes from seeing His children blessed, and prosperous. The
more He blesses you and sees your joy, the more He pours out His goodness
upon you. So you have something to shout about every day. Every day.
Your lips are filled with testimonies. You are constantly overwhelmed by the
goodness of God as He showers you with blessings.
How do you know a good spouse? By the glow his/her partner radiates after
spending time with him/her.
He makes your life a testimony to others. Your happiness becomes the
evidence of His goodness. So why should He stop making you joyful?
How can you become a beneficiary of His benevolence?
Put God first.
Give Him your time and attention. Forget about your needs and wants for a
moment. Spending time with God may not always be convenient. You may
have several places you ought to be, several delicacies you would like to try,
and several faces you would like to see, but when you put God first and seek
His face instead, He rewards you with infinity.
What is infinity?
Infinity is an unquantifiable, immeasurable, unlimited, unstoppable state of
existence irrespective of dimension. It has no beginning or end; its vastness is
incalculable.
So what is an infinite blessing?
It is a blessing that cannot be understood, predicted, restricted, or confined. It
is a blessing with indefinite streams that may come in countless forms. It
causes all to marvel.
This is God’s gift to you:
Infinite benevolence. Infinite benedictions.
This is the blessing that caused the children of Israel to multiply greatly, so
much so the Egyptians feared their growth and began to oppress them. They
thought "If they are not stopped, they'd out number us, and take over our lands.
Let's tame them like our farm animals!" But for how long could the whips
restrict them?
This is the Blessing that cost Lot and Abraham to part ways, because they
needed more room for their infinite blessings to find expression.
What is an infinite victory?
It is a victory that remains constant and ever-prevailing, irrespective of the
strategies or capacities of the enemy. Regardless of their position or timing,
your victory over them remains sure.
This is what King David understood; hence he said:
“A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.”
He also said:
“The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?”
In another passage he declared:
“By my God I can run against a troop,
By my God I can leap over a wall.”
And again:
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil.”
Why?
Because he understood the benevolence of God’s infinite victory.
That is why he refused to focus on the rank of Goliath. He refused to consider
the size of his armor, his years of expertise, or his title. He refused to
consider the strength of his arm. Instead, he put his trust in God and
declared:
“I come against you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of
Israel, whom you have defied.”
God is benevolent, so resist Him no longer.
Surrender all to Him, and He will surrender infinity to you.
Hallelujah.
