Fear Not: God Goes Before You
Deuteronomy 31:8 KJV
“And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”
When the Lord says, “Fear not,” it is the Spirit of courage that takes over. God never gives a command without supplying the power to fulfill it.
Defining the Three Forces of Strength
What Is Courage?
Courage is the refusal to acknowledge limitations or succumb to fear. It is boldness infused by the Spirit.
What Is Fortitude?
Fortitude is the ability to advance even in the face of adversity. It is inner steadiness—strength that stands firm when storms rage.
What Is Resilience?
Resilience is the determination to rise again, to rebound, and to stay on course regardless of the intensity of attacks or challenges.
These three elements are indispensable in the execution of every spiritual or earthly assignment.
Joshua’s Call: A Mandate to Be Courageous
Joshua 1:1–3, 5–6 KJV
God’s words to Joshua came after a defining moment. Moses, the great prophet, had died. Now Joshua, who faithfully served under him and was filled with the Spirit of wisdom, hears the divine call:
“Moses my servant is dead. Now, arise…”
A new season.
A new mandate.
A humongous step of faith.
God charges him: “Be bold and courageous… as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.”
Joshua obeyed God, hence creation obeyed him. The sun stood still at his command because courage was at work.
As the Lord was with your predecessors, so He will be with you.
As He was with Moses, He will be with you.
Go over that Jordan.
The Spirit That Transforms Ordinary People
Peter: From Fearful to Fearless
The same Peter who denied Jesus three times became the vessel who brought 3,000 souls into the Kingdom in one moment.
What changed?
Courage.
David: The Resilient King
Chased from pillar to post, hunted by enemies, betrayed and surrounded—yet David never gave up.
What sustained him?
Resilience.
Elijah: The Prophet Who Wanted to Die
Even the mighty Elijah became weary of life. Running from Ahab and Jezebel, he longed for death.
But, when you have the Spirit of Resilience, like the Lord Jesus you'd fall on your knees in prayer, and rise full of faith and power.
The Apostles: Carriers of Fortitude
Knowing they were at the brink of death every day, they still preached the gospel. There was no stamped guarantee of safety. No promise of rescue.
They were ready to die for the truth.
That is fortitude.
A Command and a Promise
Joshua 1:9 KJV
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid… for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Strength is not merely encouragement: it is a command backed by God’s presence.
Conviction for the Journey
Philippians 4:13 AMP
“I can do all things… through Him who strengthens and empowers me…”
(CEV:)
“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
Hence, this should be your declaration:
“I can do all things through Christ who energizes me.”
A Prayer for You
May the Spirit of Courage, the Spirit of Resilience, and the Spirit of Fortitude take over your life: your mind, your soul, and your spirit.
May you be propelled by the anointing to take gigantic steps; steps that birth glory and honor.
May the presence of the Lord go before you, dwell within you, and be with you.
May you conquer always, even as Christ is forever victorious.
Amen.
Shalom.
